This week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Happy Sunday All!

Well I did do some quilting this week.  I finished 4 out of 5 blocks but ummmmm I forgot to take a picture.  (sigh)  Go ahead smack me......lol

So I promise to have pictures of all of them next weekend.  I will be working on the 5th one tomorrow on my day off.

I am still knitting Christmas gifts to the point our family party is next weekend and I'm trying to fit a few more in.  At this point projects that should take me two or three days are taking 7-8 though because I'm tired of them........lol

I also finished a quilt on the Fusion this week for a friend.  Now I need to do the binding.

Why do the projects just keep piling up!

Other new thing this week was Santa brought me a new Babylock Grace sewing Machine!  No I haven't used it but it did get set up.  Hopefully Friday night I'll at least use it to attach my binding ends....lol

Have a great week!  Remember we are closed Monday, December 31st and Tuesday the 1st!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi All!

So I did do some work this week.  Nothing to take a picture of.

I finished cutting out my pieces for the block exchange I will be starting for you all in the next month!  I'm really excited about this one.  Quilting and friends.  That's what it's all about!

My plan is to piece the blocks on Christmas when I stumble out of bed.  Hopefully next week I will get you some pictures and more info!

I am still working on Knitting Christmas gifts.  My philosophy at this point if I finish two peoples gifts they will get them (it's an after Christmas Day party) if not they will be put on pile for next Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas gifts have you started your list for next year.  You know it's never too early to start.

I actually have started my plan for the next year.  Some are Christmas and some are birthday gifts and some are charity items.

let's see:

helmet liner
ear warmers
chemo cap
sweater (yes a few projects for me)
4 different monkeys
about 7 scarves from starbella
a bedspread for myself.
quilt for the humane society (this will be from the blocks mentioned above)

plus whatever classes we have at the store.

Yikes!  why am i doing blogging!  I should be crafting and knitting!

What's New @Quilters Depot

What's New?

This yarn is the hottest thing going right now.  You saw my picture yesterday but i will repost again.  I like showing off my work as much as you like seeing yours.......lol

Verna got me hooked on these.  She probably has made close to 20 if not more already this season.  She had never knitted before so anyone with a few minutes directions can do these.  If you are a  knitter.  CO 8 and knit.  The CO is a little different than what we are use to but is so easy!

You can make one of these anywhere from 2 -3 hours.  I will admit mine took a little longer because I had a sore middle finger. (No I have not been tossing it at people on 51.  Not sure why it was sore.lol)

We will have happy hours in January on this but if you need a few really quick gifts this is what you want!  I have people buying skeins at a time and knocking these out for gifts!

First is my scarf.  Then is Verna's one scarf.  Then are pictures of the yarn itself.  I do have black and yellow ordered.  For some reason it's a very popular color and is hard to get.........lol  I will post as soon as it gets in even if it's a second post for a day.

Come in.  Buy 1.  Get Hooked and get more!  There are sooooo many colors.  I have a second order coming in this week!  The pictures do not do the colors justice or show how many there are!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot

Happy Sunday.

This week I finished the knitting projects for Christmas that had to be done.

I might make two more people but if I do not finish they will just go on the pile for next year.

I also got hooked on the new Starbella Scarves yarn.  Have you seen these scarves.  You knit or crochet and they automatically twist for you!

I will post a picture of this in tomorrow's what's new.  This yarn is the hottest/trendiest thing right now.  You can knit up one of these in around 2-3 hours.  Once you do a few you can do them even faster.  We do have black and gold coming in.  I hope it will be in by Friday but it's one of the hottest colors (hmmmm I wonder why.......lol). They are more for style than warmth so make them in every color to match whatever you are wearing for the day!  We will be having Happy Hours on this in January, but if you cannot wait we have the yarn!

I also made my knitting list for next year.   Apparently monkey's and scarves are on the list.  Maybe I'll get to knit for myself.  maybe not.

I also started to cut our my Friendship Block exchange blocks.  (more about that after Christmas!).  I learned to hand piece this week.  I think this might be the project I do instead of using the machine.

Ok.  I think that is all I have for today.  Remember if you need any last minute Christmas gifts or something to work on when that cold weather comes in and you need to ignore the relatives.......lol  We will be open late every night this week except Monday!  Send your hubbies and kids in and we will help them get what you want!

This Week W/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Happy Dreary Sunday!

I am sitting in front of the TV watching sappy Christmas Movies, writing the newsletter and now my blog!

This week I had to ship the Fusion Long Arm back to Utah to be fixed so I am a little bummed because I actually had some quilts to do with the Pro-stitcher.  Hopefully it will be back by the new year and we can continue classes and rentals.

I am in the process of working on a Block Exchange for you all hopefully starting in February.  My goal is to have mine done by the time I write the January/February newsletter so that we can the block exchange started!

We had our first Knit Klub at the store this week!  I want to thank everyone who came!  It was a fun and Awesome time!  I can't wait until January for the next one and hope we have even more people come in for a couple of hours of fun!

Since all I have been working on is Christmas gifts I thought I would give you a free pattern.  Yes you can get these patterns anywhere, but I sat down this summer and came up with my own so any similarity to anyone else's is not intentional.

Knitted Cup Cozy

Size 4 needle - you can use a 9" circular dpn or straight.  Whichever you want.  Yes! You can get 9" circulars!

approximately 60 yards of a worsted weight yarn.  I have been switching between the Red Heart Team Spirit Yarn and Patons 100% wool but this is a total stash buster project!

1 stitch marker.

Skill Level:  This is for the beginner. If you are more advanced you can take the pattern and make changes to it to fit what you want to do!

Fits: I can vouch that this will fit any Crazy Mocha or Starbucks cup since those are the places I am addicted to!  Will also fit some travel mugs.

Note:  These instructions are given if you are using circulars.  If you are using DPN's split them onto 3 or 4 needles.  If you are using straight ignore the instructions to join and place marker.  you will just do row by row and stitch up when done.

CO 34 stitches
Join and place marker
Row 1 - Knit
Row 2 - Purl
Row 3 -Knit
Row 4-Purl
Row 5-Knit

Rows 6-10 knit
Rows 11-14 knit 4,  k2tog, knit to end  (at the end of these 4 rows you should have 30 stitches)
rows 15-19 knit

Row 20 knit
row 21 purl
row 22 knit
row 23 purl
row 24 knit

BO VERY LOOSELY - i use a size 8 to BO to make sure that the cozy will fit onto the cup.

cut yarn and weave ends in.

I will tell you this is the first pattern I have written and shared.  It's easy and can be done in an evening!  Make great Christmas gifts!  I have made at least 10!

I hope you enjoy this pre-Christmas gift and that you enjoy making them as much as I have!
