Are you ready for frankenstorm Sandy? I'm already not looking forward to my commute on Rt 51 and 88 since I think there are 3 flood zones on 51 and at least as many on 88! Be careful out there this week and hold on to your hats til Halloween.
If you are a reader of my Wacky Wednesday make sure to pay attention this weekend. I'm going to do something SpookWacky!
Let's see I was reminded this week I forgot to post the picture of my felted purse after the felting. Sorry about that. Here it is. First is the before Picture to remind you how big it was and the after pic. I could felt it again but I am a person whose purse is a backup. I like BIG! Purses.........lol
I will admit that I did not get much done on my princess monkey so you do not get a picture. I only got one arm done and I started the second last night. I promise it will be done by next weekend. I have too many Christmas gifts to knit to take any longer!
The other thing I did this week is I started a new purse for a friends Christmas gift. I hate making purses because you have to follow instructions. Luckily as owner I get on demand classes! I also have the greatest purse teacher Verna! Not everyone would be as patient with me as she is! Here is the beginning of my purse. I really hope I finish it next Friday night at UFO. Why don't you join me with one of your UFO's!
I will tell you right now this is the only blog post you will get this week.
I really have nothing to tell you........lol Nothing is new. Nothing came in. No one finished anything or if they did they didn't get a picture taken of it. Actually I lie. I had one Vintage Ornament finished but I'll post that next week when I have more stuff to post.
Update on Mom. Cateract/Lense #1 is done. She'll be back in the store on Monday. She's doing good just don't let her pick up your stuff or bolts or bend over to pick something up. Next eye is in a couple of weeks.
Here is the link for this week @. We only have a few spots left for Kids 101, Stained Glass and 2 Block Quilt. So if you want to take these classes get registered as soon as possible! All others are still open to register!
So this week I long armed two of the store's samples and once the binding is done they will be put up for sale in the store! Just small wall hangings. Of course I did not put pictures up. I'll have to do a blog in November on all the wonderful items we do have for sale if you need a quick gift for someone special!
I've been working slowly on my princess sock monkey. I decided to make this a really special monkey as you can see from the way I am decorating it. I still have the arms to do and a little more Bling to put on it. When I'm done I'll show you the tail also. Tail = same color as hair!
Well have a great week everyone! Next week I promise more posts!
One of the things I did fairly frequently before Mom and I opened the store was machine embroidery. Now not so much so when I need to do experiement with thread or such I want to make sure I do it for a worthwhile reason.
So, this week I wanted to test out one of the Superior Threads (Bottom Line) that can be used for embroidery. So I asked for a tshirt to make my VP of cuteness a new shirt.
Luckily her mom brought me two. One that doesn't fit which was a bust because a) i forgot to change the bobbin thread, b) i used the wrong stabilizer so the result was a hole in the tshirt. ooops. See even those of use who think they know what they are doing don't.......lol Not sure if you can see it in the picture, but right after the O where there should be an F there is a whole.
Here is the success story though!
Test went good! The Bottom Line works awesome as an embroidery thread even in my finicky machine!
The reason I did this test is eventually the sulky will sell out and we will not be carrying it. Alot of you buy your embroidery thread from who you bought your machine from or stores I will not name......lol So eventually we will be carrying Superior for almost all your sewing needs!
So that is an added what I did last week.....lol
remember the one who has the most stash wins! Jenn
It's time to felt my bag! This is the before picture. I will show you the end result next week! It's huge at this point. I love the color though! Was tempted to just line it and use it as a big purse since I'm a big purse person but I will felt it.
I really haven't done anything else.........lol Paperwork and such but once I finished the purse I kinda did not pick up the knitting needles again. My hope is this evening to get a bunch done on the pink sock monkey.
Did you know bankers have a slight problem. When they are off due to a holiday it means they can't do the banking they need to do because they are all closed and otherwise they are at work. (sigh) it's a very horrible thing..........lol
We actually had a slow week in what's new. Most of the items that came in on things that needed to be re-ordered and for classes so they are all logged in including some of the Moda Marbles that were low.
We did get two bolts of fabrics! Don't you love the red. I see Minnie and Micky Mouse!
I know most of you are watching the Steelers as I write this, but this is every Nascar fan's weekend! The race at Talledega Alabma! Daytona and Dega are my favorite tracks so I finished up my quilting, writing of the new newsletter and now my blog entries so I can knit and watch the race!
I promised you all a picture of me in my sweater. I HATE getting my picture taken so you all are very privilaged to get this! I want to do this sweater in white without the diamond and maybe black with the diamond. Wish I didn't have Christmas Gifts to finish.....lol
I also have started a princess pink sock monkey which I think I mentioned last week. I have the legs done and attached!
On Saturday the knitters started their next project a felted purse. I have mine I'd say 1/3 done! I hope to be half way done by tonight if I get my fingers moving!
If you are around on Monday come see me. It's a bank holiday and I will be in the store from 10 to 5!
Remember tomorrow night is an UFO! Grab your unfinished projects and come share our pizza!
So we have two more things to review for October! Hopefully I have not forgotten anything!
Knitting: Felted Purse!
You still have time to take this class! Even if you register Saturday morning we have room and we have yarn! Just call and we will tell you what needles to bring! Or bring your favorite felting wool and make either size purse! Our classes are meant for learning but even if you are an experienced knitter they can also be considered concept classes. Need a purse? Take the class and have some great fun while knitting!
I'll be in it! Figured it's time to learn to felt! I can always use another purse to give as a gift or use to stuff my notions into!
