This Week W/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi All!

So we all made it through the snow on Friday.  Now they are promising if we can get through Monday morning's ice we will have spring for two days.  At least it's giving us those two days to melt stuff.

We re-scheduled the UFO from Friday night until next Friday night.  So far they are just saying some snow showers, but since they can't get today right while looking out the window I'm not planning that far ahead........lol

This week was week 2 of the felted slipper class!  Check out my first slipper.  My goal is to have the second to the same stage for Thursday night's class!  These are super easy if you can count (you would think being an accountant I would have that skill, but ummmm nope!)  If you want to learn them and you did not get to take the class.  Grab your pattern from Fibertrends and either come to Knit Klub or PHD's and Wendy will help you.  You won't get the extra stuff we learned, but she will answer your questions on how to do it.

The quilt for the Humane Society is on the Fusion!  This is the week I long arm it!  Can't wait to do my kitty designs on it!  If you are in the store Tuesday night on check out what I'm doing!

I want to thank all of you who have been doing the Chemo caps!  We have two bags to take over to the treatment center.  Hopefully we will take them over this week!  You ladies are AWESOME! and keep them coming.  This will be an on going project!

Oh and I'm on twitter now!  I should say the store is.  Find me @QuiltersDepot  Hopefully that link works.  Twitter makes my brain hurt.  It shouldn't I'm a techie person........lol

Success Stories @Quilters Depot

Well It's Tuesday and I usually show you success stories.

I don't have any to show you though.

So instead I will repeat a picture of my friendship block quilt(it's my success story so see it does fit under this post) and tell you a secret.

This secret is something a quilt shop owner should never utter.  I HATE PATTERNS!

OK, I said it.  I almost never use a pattern.  My brain doesn't like them and I never stick to them.  Even my own.  I designed the blocks for you all to join my friendship block exchange.  We have 15 people registered!  Do you still want to do it.  Come on in!  There is no limit to how many people can do it.  It might be crowded at show and tell but we will manage it!

I have two patterns for everyone to receive when they bring your blocks back and I was really trying to follow one of them.

However, as I went along my brain went squirrelly and I just had to change it.  Let my quilt be a lesson.  You don't have to do traditional things.  If you made this quilt you would probably do all the sashing.  Then do one border sides then top.  then the next and then the final one.  That's how I wrote it.  However, I decided to do all sides borders without pieces of sashing and then i did the top when i was all done.  Look at the awesome blocking it did with the borders.!

So this is a threefer post.  To show you too can make this awesome Friendship Block Exchange Quilt (well yours will be in other fabrics!  lol), two confess I hate patterns, and to show you that you don't always have to stick to traditional quilting rules or even follow the rules!

What's New @Quilters Depot!

Happy Monday.

I am off shortly to the Chiropractor and then I will be back to close store at 5pm.

Did you have the day off?  Did you do anything fun?

I finished logging in the fabrics you see below...........lol

The Bottom Four go with the angels.  Not sure why they uploaded that way.  We have decided to sell the angels in yardage rather than a panel.  You get more that way.  However, Don't ya love the angels.  Come in and see all of them.

This Week W/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi all!

I had a pretty good week finishing things.

First my chemo cap!  I started a second last night. I am going to do a different beginning so it doesn't roll.  However, for my first hat I think it's pretty good!

If you would like to donate we have crochet and knit instructions.  However, basically just make a hat out of 100% natural fibers like cotton that are soft and bring them in!

The second thing I finished this week is my friendship block example/ charity quilt for the W.Pa Humane Society.  Ok it's not quilted, but I do have time reserved on the Fusion at the end of the month to quilt it.  I have some awesome animal designs to put on it!

I also finished three of the four soles for my slippers!  I hope to do the last one tonight.

I opened a twitter account for the store.  I cant' give you the link because I'm still setting it up.  However if you are on Twitter look for @QuiltersDepot and come follow me.  As soon as I figure out pictures and tweeting on my phone I hope to start that up.  Also linking to facebook because I'm lazy......lol

I'm off from the bank tomorrow.  Is it ok to say WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!  Come check out my last conductive thread/smart glove happy hour or just come say hello!  I have paperwork to do tomorrow and all kind of other stuff that seems to never get done when I have a day off.

Quilters Depot Happy Hours this week!

Over the hump day!  3 more days until hockey is back on TV.  I think it's going to be a challenge not watching storage wars, pawn stars, american pickers etc even with hockey back.  Those are all my favorite new shows this season!

I digress.  This week our Happy Hours start for the month and we have made life grand by giving you a glass in each hand.  Come to one Happy Hour and chances are you can stay for a second.

Thursday night 6pm.  Happy Hour w/Jenn - Make smart gloves.  Bring a glove and a med eye needle and I will help you make a pair of smart gloves.

Friday night at 6pm. Happy Hour w/Verna - Starbella yarn scarf.  This is the HOTTEST thing to make right now!  Whether you knit or crochet you can make these.  Even if you have never picked up a knitting needle Verna can have you making these scarves in an hour!  All you need is a size 7 or 8 knitting needles. (straights or circulars) and a skein of Starbella.  We have so many colors and so many more coming in!

Friday night at 7pm. Happy Hour w/Pauline Tru-Cut System.  We have so many of you coming in and asking for the cutter we use at the front.  We sadly have to tell you to take a hike to Australia to get them or to try something else.  We have been researching other Cutting systems that are based on safety and easability of use.  The first up is the Tru-Cut System.  Come check it out.  I hate rotary cutting but this makes it easier!

Saturday at 11am.  Happy Hour w/Jenn - Smart gloves

Saturday at noon - Happy Hour w/Verna - Starbella Yarn Scarf

Monday the 21st at noon Happy Hour w/Jenn -smart gloves

Monday the 21st at 1pm Happy Hour w/Pauline Tru-Cut System

Dont' miss any of these Happy Hours!  In my opinion it's some of the best ones we have come up with!

Success Stories @Quilters Depot!

It's Tuesday! That means Success Stories!

The first picture is the last block for the 2013 BOM!  You would be making 4 of this one if I remember what Jane told me correctly!  Sign up soon if you want to do this really pretty quilt!  I am so tempted to do this BOM.

The rest of the pictures are customers' awesome projects.  I still have a few 2012 BOM blocks straggling in, but they still get their pictures up no matter what!  The other is a quilt/pillow cases/ and quilt bag that another customer made.  I was going to put her name but her daughter hasn't received the quilt yet and I'm not going to be the one who spills the beans.............lol

What's New @Quilters Depot!

Happy Monday all!

Well we have a lot of new Starbella yarn that has come in.  The black/gold is slowly arriving.  I have filled all but two of the pre-orders, but left  2 skeins of it in the bin for you to buy!

More should be in on Thursday unless backordered again.

Also I have ordered a bunch of pre-ordered colors and styles for February and March.  There is four new colors that will have fur on the end!

We had two new bolts come in this week. These are priced @$8/yard!  I think I might have to get the blue before you do........hahahahahaa.  These are not in the regular spot for new fabrics, so if you come in you may have to hunt for them.  Those of you who know the store.  They are over by the pellon and other fusible interfaces shelf!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot

Happy Sunday!

Hockey Season is back.  If you are on my hockey mailing list you will probably get an email Wednesday evening about available tickets.  I took a quick look and there won't be a game until April that I will probably go too :-(  working two 1/2 jobs stinks!    I have to let my friends and co-workers from the bank pick first since they are my faithful buyers.  I will then email out what's left to those of you who have signed up to get the email.

So this week.  I got my 9 blocks together for my sample Friendship block quilt that I am donating to the Humane Society's Ball in February.  When I get it all done I will post with a link to the event.

I started a knitted chemo cap.  I would like to get two of these done by Valentines Day.  I always feel bad I ask you all to donate and then I don't get mine done!

I started the Felted clogs class.  You really can't tell what I'm making but these are the soles of the slippers.  These two will go together to make a nice stiff sole!  Two more to make for homework before the 24th!  Not too bad.  I did one in class and one last night.  For me and counting (you really would think I'd be better at that counting thing being an accountant, but I'm not!)  it takes me about an hour to do that one sole.

This week I would really like to make headway on my Charity Quilt.  Finish the other two soles and the chemo hat.  Can I do it?  lol  Ok maybe not the Chemo Cap.

Remember, Thursday night and Saturday I have happy hours on making smart gloves!

What's New @Quilters Depot!

Happy Monday all!

So what's new is we got some awesome fabrics in!

First Nancy Drew is in.  We have fat quarters and we have layer cakes.  We decided that it was better for you to get a sample of all the fabrics in the line then only being able to bring in 1 or 2 bolts.  If there is boltage someone really wants let us know and we will try to order it.  There are only 2 of these panels.  If you want them get them quick!  Never mind.  The panels are sold out!

We also got a bunch of bolts in.  See below for all of them!  Some of them are just spectacularly bright!

This week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot

Happy Sunday all!

So today I have been writing the Jan/Feb newsletter for you all!

I should have started last night but we had our last family Christmas party last night so I am really behind.

I will tell how great it is when you are basically the crafty person in the younger generation of the family to have the 12 year old in the family show you her knitting!  AWESOME!  Hopefully she will keep it up.  She's also excited that her last 9 weeks at school will be in sewing in Home Ec!  Maybe there is still hope for the next generation!

So last week I did my samples for the Friendship Block Exchange I posted about last week! I am making my first set into a charity quilt for the Humane Society.  I'll show you as I progress.
This week you just get the picture of two of the blocks. I'm not sure if you can tell but those are cats in shoes and yarn balls.

I am also participating in the block exchange and picked out my fabrics.  I'm sure I'll be one of the last ones to exchange.........lol  This meant I got to use my new machine this week!  It's going to take me some time to get use to after having a totally automated one but it's a nice machine!

I finished all my knitted Christmas projects at about 9pm for the party on Saturday, but I didn't have to give anyone pictures. That is good!

This week we start a felted knitted clog. I also want to get the binding done and a pillowcase done during the week.

Tomorrow we have a shop hop planning meeting. I'll let you know closer to the end of the week about the finalized plans!

remember the ones with the most stash wins!
