What's New @Quilters Depot!

Hi all!

It's another Monday!  We had a few things come in this week!

I finished kitting the Let's go Pens wall hanging!  So we now have them in stock for you!  The backing is different but just as awesome as this one!

We are now back in stock of the Starbella Stinger.  If you do not know which one that is.  It's the one I call the Pittsburgh Starbella!  Ie.  The black n gold!

We have some new Jelly rolls! Awesome price on these!

Finally, there are a few new fabrics in!  Love these colors.  I apologize for quality of the pictures.  I am trying to figure out settings that will enable me to tweet pictures on the fly.  I do not know if it's my phone or twitter and this is the lowest level of pictures and they still are not tweeting from my phone (sigh)  I promise to go back to a better quality for the blog next week!

Week 5 Jenn's Mystery Modern Quilt Along!

Mystery Modern Quilt Along!

Email 5:
Step 1:
From Bag 1.  Pull out your 3” strips x wof.  Take 2 and sew together lengthwise.  You will have a 3.00” x ~80” strip.  Do with the second two 3” strips.
Pull out your 3.5” x wof fabric strips.  Sew together.  You will now have a 3.5” x ~80” strip.
Take your 2.25” x ~80” strip from the bag.  This is your outside strip.  Sew it to a 3.00” x ~80" strip.  Sew the 3.5” ~80” strip to this strip.  Finally sew the last 3” x ~80” strip.  Depending on WOF your seams may or may not line up.  Do not worry.  It will not matter in this quilt!
You will now have what I am calling your first completed block.  It should measure 10” by ~80 inches long.  Leave your uneven edges uneven.  We will worry about final length farther into the project.  Do not worry too much if your not exact in measurements!
Place this block back into Bag 1 after pressing.
Step 2:
From Bag 8 repeat the above steps and put back in Bag 8.
You now have completed two of your 8 “blocks”

Success Stories @Quilters Depot!

I know it's Wednesday and I am late with the Success Stories, but you have to admit the pictures were worth two days of What's New!

Today we have a successful Curling Iron Cover.  (If you missed this we will be repeating right before Christmas).  Great Work PeggyW!

We also have what I am working on!  I have been searching for almost a year for a pattern to make myself a new blanket for my bed.  I found this cool Log Cabin pattern!  This is what I have done so far on the first block!

Jenn's Mystery Modern Quilt Along Week4!

Mystery Modern Quilt Along!

Email 4:
We have your first sewing instructions this week and more cutting.
From Bag 1.  Take strip A and strip B from Bag 1 and sew together lengthwise so you end up with a 2.25 x ~80” strip (you might have a little longer or shorter strip but don’t worry we will take care of the length later) (~ means approximately). Put a safety pin in the top of this strip.  Put this strip back in Bag 1.
From Bag 8: Do the same as you did for Bag1.  Put a safety pin in the top of this strip like you did for the first one.

Step 2:
Pick Pick 6 colors.  Think of them as A, B, C, D, E and F.  I suggest different colors than what you have already used, but if you repeat up to 2 it will be ok.  You can also repeat 1 of the colors in your color scheme
Cut 2 strips of A, 3” x wof.  Place 1 strip in Bag 1 and 1 in Bag 8
Cut 2 strips of B, 3” x wof.  Place 1 strip in Bag 1 and 1 in Bag 8.
Cut 2 strips of C, 3” x wof. Place 1 strip in Bag 1 and 1 in Bag 8.
Cut 2 strips of D, 3” x wof.  Place 1 strip in Bag 1 and 1 in bag 8.
Your cutting size now changes! Pay attention!
Cut 2 strips of E, 3.5” x wof. Place 1 strip in Bag 1 and 1 in Bag 8
Cut 2 strips of F, 3.5” x wof. Place 1 strip in Bag 1 and 1 in Bag 8

Success Stories @Quilters Depot (Day 2 the employees)

I figured since I am not doing my weekly emails on what I'm doing I would do it this way.

First up is Jane's quilt!  Can you see what it is?  Take a look!

Do you see it?  It's a Star Wars Storm Trooper!  Jane took the design from a crochet pattern and designed this quilt!  I so want to make one.  Not sure what I'd do with it though!

Next up is my success story!  I finished my second Tennesee Monkey!

Here she is! Yes I decided the monkeys are female since they are for two little girls!

And here she is with her twin sister!

And this is the store's newest little animal.  This is Mr. Googly.  I was blowing off steam on Saturday and procrastinating doing my next Starbella scarf and this is what I came up with.  I think he's kinda cute.  Check him out in the window when you stop by!

This week I am long arming!  If I remember I'll take some pictures well the first one I won't because it's a gift for someone who might read the blog.  The rest I will though!  Plus i want to have two starbella samples done this week of some newer yarns that we have in!

I also forgot to say I forgot to unload mom's camera again. (sigh).  There might have been more success stories.

Week 2 Jenn's Mystery Modern Quilt Along @Quilters Depot!

Email 2:
Welcome to Jenn’s Mystery Modern Quilt Along @Quilters Depot.
Step 1:  I would like you to collect 8 different fabrics.  You will need at least 1 and 1/4 yard of each.  You should have extra left over for your stash.  We will be doing 2.5 to 3.5 inch strips x wof (width of fabric) in this quilt along.  As you go along you might be able to stash bust if you want.  I bought all new because this quilt is for me!  You can do 8 shades of one or two colors or be wild like what you see below.  I went with hot pink and blue because those are my favorite colors.
Step 2: I would also like you to find 8 ziplock bags and label them 1 to 8.  (The mystery starts)

You will now have a week to get your fabrics.  Remember if you come in to the store and you are signed up or are signing up you will get 10% on these fabrics.

What's New @Quilters Depot!

Happy Monday!  Happy Labor Day!  I hope you all have a great relaxful day!

First yes I know I had a couple spelling errors in yesterdays kickoff email for the quilt along.  I don't understand why spell check doesn't know right = write.  (sigh)

We logged a bunch of stuff in last week but it was all some of the notions that we were out of!  We also got a refill of some of our Moda Marbles in!  What we did have new was a new type of Starbella Yarn.  This one is a no Knit Yarn!  All you have to do is stretch the yarn and you have an instant Cowl!  You can get two out of one skein!  In just 10 minutes you can have an awesome piece of clothing for yourself or make tons of Christmas gifts.  We have two colors in right now and more coming in!

Week 1 Jenn's Mystery Modern Quilt Along @Quilters Depot!

Email 1:
Knit Alongs are all the rage!  This got me thinking.  Why not do a Quilt ALong?  I need a new quilt and I have been collecting fabric.
I have been told I have a very eclectic quilting view.  I love traditional stuff but I’m not one to follow patterns. I like simple things.  I like bright.  A few people have labeled me as the Modern Quilter in the store.  I have decided that this is a Modern Quilt.  It does not have all the aspects of the modern quilt but is definitely in that realm!
Starting next Sunday, September  8th you will receive an email (There is no signup REQUIRED, but I would love to know who is following!) with the first instructions.
The emails are going to go out to my email list.  If you are on my weekly email I have put you on this email list.  If you do not want to receive the quilt along email weekly for the next 12 weeks you can unsubscribe or just hit delete or let me know and I will remove you.  I hope you all will follow along  even if you are not making the quilt.
I do not care where you are in the world!  Join my Mystery Modern Quilt Along!   Depending how ambitious I am at the end I may write this up to be a regular pattern and kitting.  I have check the pattern and you may not come out to the exact measurements depending on how you cut.  This is my disclaimer that this is my first pattern I am writing like this!  Please be patient.  It's easy and flexible!
You will get an email every week as we make an approximate twin size (70x88) quilt.  Since this is a quilt along, it is a 12 week project.  Yikes you say!  I say it will be a totally unique pattern that is coming straight from my brain to your email!  Any likeness to any other quilt is coincidental!    You all know I do not like patterns.  I create my own!  This might be the yikes of the email......lol  You will get this Jenn’s Mystery Modern Quilt Pattern to use going forward!   If that in itself is not enough reason to do this I do not know what is.  The level of this quilt along is Confident Beginner.  There is cutting and piecing so you have to know how to quilt!  Remember this is about having fun!  Do not stress if things are not exact!
This will cost you nothing to follow.  If you decide to do it you will need fabric of course.  If you are able you can probably raid your stash or you can buy new.
If you come into the store and you have told me you are doing the quilt along you will get 10% off the purchases.
I would love if you would send me pictures of your quilt along so I can post on the blog and give you all the props you deserve as we go along!
