This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot

Well,  ummmm I don't think I did anything this week @Quilters Depot

I think I am going to stop making promises of what I am going to get done.

Yes that's the solution.  That way I can pretend I got a lot done even if it is just one thing!  I wish the business stuff would count on here.  I accomplish a lot of those.  I did argue with my email provider all week. I don't think that qualifies though.........lol  I know I was at the store all week so I must have accomplished something.............lol  I did log stuff in!  Just wait until you see tomorrow's blog with the What's New in it!

So yes I am wayyyyyyy behind on my scarf again.  plus it's bumming me out there is way to much black in it.

This week I do have goals.  I have a quilt on the Avante to do for a customer and since that has to be done that's the only thing I'm guaranteeing.........lol

Hope you all have a great week!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Happy Sunday all!

Today I had to break my Sunday rules and put shoes on.  The staff (or most of us) arie at the store training on the Brother Embroidery Machines so that we can demonstrate them for you!

I will admit I am writing this Saturday night this week and watching Animal Planet's "Too Cute" as I write this.

I can't wait to get my hands on that Quattro 3 that we have in the store since we do not get our Dream Machines until September.

I did not even touch those last pieces of my quilt along.  I have been playing too much with the Avante/Pro Stitcher.  Check out the charity quilt I long armed this week!  To answer your question.  If you have taken the Pro Stitcher class or plan to you can use my car design.........lol

I am caught up as of this moment on my Pirates Scarf.  I will be behind again once tonight's game is over.  I hope to felt my gift bag tomorrow morning before I go to the store!

That's about all I have done this week except for you know the normal un fun work.

Have a great week!

Kids Camp @Quilters Depot!

We celebrate summer with the kids by playing with- I mean, introducing - fun projects  to inspire, teach, and offer opportunities for creative expression.

Day 1: Tuesday, August 19th @1 to 4pm: Sharpie Day! We learn a new way to tie-dye – with Sharpie markers!  Teacher: Deb Will

Day 2: Wednesday, August 20th @1 to 4pm.  Friendship Bracelet Day.  We go ‘oldie-but-goodie’ with sampling friendship bracelets. These are truly classic and need to be a part of everyone’s youth!  Also on the agenda the kids will also learn how to make a cuff bracelet made from fabric.  This item is the perfect spot for your favorite embellishment[s]. Teacher: Deb Will

Day 3: Friday, August 22nd @1 to 4pm.  Intro to Machine Embroidery:  Now that we have the Brother Embroidery Machines to sell; it is a great time to introduce your kids to machine embroidery!  Come in and make a great small project.  Since Brother is awesome we can do Disney designs!  I wish I could take the class! Teachers: Kathy Albitz and Verna Spargo.

Day 4: Saturday, August 23rd @noon to 3pm.  Key Fob: A very cool, yet very do-able simple sewing project to brush up on some skills that may have gotten a little dusty…we will make a key fob for your locker key, secret diary key, backdoor key, or whatever key you need to corral – or just something personal to hook onto your backpack.

Just the Facts:  We want everyone to have a positive experience when participating, so these projects are geared toward those with a little experience operating a sewing machine and capable of some fine motor skills that won’t be frustrating.  That may mean it will be more appropriate for elementary, upper-elementary and above-aged youngsters.  You know your children best, so think carefully about their concentration level, skill set, and maturation to facilitate the most positive experience for everyone.
Cost: $25 per day (includes what they need for each class) (bring money if they decide they would like to make more than 1)

Register Now . Day 2. Knitting!

You know I am in love with the Laura Nelkin beaded jewelry kits!

You also can be.  I don't even want to hear the excuse that you are allergic to wool.  That will not work this time because the kits come in either wool or cotton!

Come take this quick and easy class.  If you do not finish there is a knit clinic on the 28th!  Register today or Thursday before 5pm!

Knitting—Laura Nelkin’s Stereo Cuff:  Have you been doing our Nelkin Jewelry classes.  If so you will love this next one.  If not what are you waiting for!  The Stereo Cuff is deceptively simple...there are only 8 stitches with 3 colors of beads slipped up in between. What's not to love?   We have a lovely array of kit colors to choose from, and most are 100% cotton! Do not let your wool allergies stop you from finally learning how to knit beaded jewelry!  This is a ONE week class, but if you need to finish we have a Knit Clinic you can come to for free if you are working on this project!  When: Thursday, August 14th @6 to 9pm.  Cost:   $20 + kit.  Teacher: Kristen Strom

remember we knit so we don't kill (ha! you thought i was going to say something about stash......lol)

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot

Hi all.

Sunday again.

No I didn't finish my quilt along. :-(  Hopefully you are more dedicated than I have been.

I did finish the knitting on my felted change purse.  Yes, I know how many weeks behind I am........lol  I will try to felt it tomorrow night since I have the evening off and see if I can get the fabric basted in and start working on attaching the handles.

I also quilted a quilt on the Avante this week.  Check out the oak leaves I did!  Sometimes I love the look of the backs more than the fronts.......lol

I am behind once again on my Pirates Scarf but hope to catch up on that tonight if I finish my to do list.  It's really long for some reason..........lol

Register now Day 1!

I have three great classes for you to sign up for NOW.  Don't wait!

Come join us for the Carpenter Star class!  You have seen the samples in the store.  We have several!  Make the quilt the size you want!

Carpenter Star Since the beginning of the year you all have been asking for us to do this quilt again! Seen in all the quilting magazines have you always wanted to do it but thought it was too hard?  Come join the fun and learn how to this traditional but easy block!  We have so many samples up of this quilt!  You can do it too!  This is a TWO week class.
When:  Session 2: Tuesdays, August 12th and 19th @6 to 8:30pm.
Cost: $25 + pattern + supplies.  Teacher: Jane Casne

Horizontal Scrap Quilt:  Need a quick and REALLY easy quilt while using your jelly rolls, leftover binding pieces, and some of your scrap pieces?????  Well, this is the class for you!!!  The quilt has clean lines, all straight line piecing (no triangles, no curves, etc.).  You can choose a monochromatic color scheme like the store sample or go with a variety of colors.  The store sample measures 40” x 60” but can easily be made larger.  So come join in the fun.  You will like this one so much and it goes together so quickly that you will be able to make several for gifts before the holiday season. This is a TWO Week class!
When:  Saturdays, August 9th and 16th @9am to noon.  Cost: $25+supplies.  Teacher:  Peggy Gibson.

Fun & Done:  Many people asked Peggy to have a “quilt as you go” class so they can avoid the quilting and binding at the end of the project.  Well here it is…..using the “Fun & Done – Easy Diamond” quilt pattern you will have a finished project once you sew the blocks together!!!!  It’s fun, quick and easy.  The class project is a table runner but the techniques can easily be adapted to larger quilts.  The class will also cover how this technique can be used to show-off those panel blocks or large focus fabrics that you have and wondered what to do with them.  This is a TWO week class!
When:  Saturdays,. August 9th and 16th @Noon to 3pm.  Cost:  $25 + supplies.  Teacher: Peggy Gibson.

This Week W/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi all!

Another week has passed.

I am caught up on My Pirates Scarf!  Well except for last night's game.  You can really tell how bad the first part of the season was versus now.  At least the losing streaks aren't as many in a row now.........lol

I did work on my quilt along.  However, I spent more time on ripping then sewing.  Therefore I am only about half way done with the last step.  I decided to use directional fabrics and apparently I was not thinking when I did some of my rows.  Hopefully, by next week I will have it down. Stay tuned to Tuesday's Blog we do have a finished Quilt from the Quilt along!

I also played on the new Pro Stitcher.  I almost have it mastered.  Just a few things that I might have to wait until September when I am in Utah to finally learn.

Kathy and Verna will be in Nashville this week at the Brother Convention.  Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates from the ladies as they learn all about our new products!

Have a GREAT week everyone!
