Time is running out to register for the first of 4 Kids Time Classes @Quilters Depot!

On Four Saturdays in November, we will be presenting classes to help your kids and grandkids get their Christmas Presents done while having great fun.

Each Class is $25. This includes everything they need to make the project!

All classes are Noon to 3pm.

Teacher is Deb Will.

Saturday November 1st—Friendship Bracelet: We go ‘oldie-but-goodie’ with sampling friendship bracelets. These are truly classic and need to be a part of everyone’s youth!  Also on the agenda the kids will also learn how to make a cuff bracelet made from fabric.  This item is the perfect spot for your favorite embellishment[s].

Saturday, November 15th—Sharpie Fun!  We learn a new way to tie-dye – with Sharpie markers! Please wear old clothes or bring a smock!  Here is a picture of a sample that the adults made.  Bet you the kids do some awesome work!

Saturday, November 22nd—Key Fob:  A very cool, yet very do-able simple sewing project to brush up on some skills that may have gotten a little dusty…we will make a key fob for your locker key, secret diary key, backdoor key, or whatever key you need to corral – or just something personal to hook onto your backpack!
Make one for the special adult in your life!

Saturday, November 29th—Elf on the Shelf Ornaments:
We will have a holiday time for kids where we will give them the opportunity to make their own little Elf on a Shelf!  We have four ornaments to select from and all the necessary supplies to complete their project.  You know your kids the best, so to lessen frustration, be aware that this project will require some hand stitching and use of fine motor skills.  Nick will be on hand to help Deb teach this class!

Look what Kathy made on her Dream machine!

Hi all

I didn't have any pictures of success stories.  I didn't check mom's camera out so I might have missed something.

So instead I wanted to show you what Kathy made on her Brother Dream Machine!  With the largest hoop ever she put this Micky on her jean jacket!

We should be getting our next shipment of Dreams in soon! Hopefully, by the end of the week!

Come in and check it out.  Talk to Kathy and Verna about all the features!   Click here to see the details about the machine!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi all!

So I really did not do anything very crafty this week.  i am not even sure where the week went.

I am up to date on my Penguin Rally Scarf!  I actually sat down right before writing this blog to do last night's game!  I must say I like the colors but that is a given since I love Penguin Gold and Blue and Black......lol

I am now going to get on my soapbox for a minute.  I have been doing a lot of paperwork and getting ready for our Handi Quilter Educator Event with Debby Brown!  I am so excited to have her in!  I have been using Handi Quilters for a lot longer than I have had the store.  Until last month when I went to Utah I had never had a professional teach me.  The fact that you can come to your local store (you might have to cross a river.  sorry about that, but you don't have to get on a plane!), and get an awesome professional to show you the ropes is a CHANCE YOU SHOULD NOT MISS!  I cannot tell you how strongly I feel.  That is why I have been sending you so many reminders about this event!  Even if you are mildly curious you should register and come to 1 or all of the classes!  If you miss these classes you are so going to want to smack yourself. I can not say the words DO NOT MISS THESE CLASSES enough.  Yes, I will be sending you alot more emails in the next two weeks on it.  Sign up now and I won't send so many emails and blogs out!  lol

Have a great week!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi all!

If you know anything about me.  I love Hockey and I love Nascar!  I am not a fan of the new elimination round playoffs in Nascar.  I really don't like it today because my favorite could be eliminated!  lol

So I am sitting here watching pre-race doing my computer work and getting my blogs written!

So what did I do this week?

Well I worked on my Penguin Rally Scarf!  Check it out!  I only have to do last night's win to be up to date!  If you look closely you can see the pattern in the gold.

I have also started to stitch out the new manual for the Pro Stitcher.  Yes I said stitch out!  I had to do each of the things I am going to teach you to make sure I knew what I was doing.  So there is a cute but really awful sample on the machine right now.  I hope in the next couple of weeks to get it written!

I know a lot of you only read my Sunday edition of the blog.  If you want some of the Frozen fabrics that I said would not be in until November.  They are in now.  If you want the Elsa/Anna Panel or the Olaf panel come in and get on the waiting list so I know how much to order!  The fabrics are good prices and are adorable!

Hope you all have a great week!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot

Hi all

It's an early day here at the Fall Retreat.  Several are already sewing and several are eating breakfast.  Several are still in bed.  That is one of the great things about retreat!

I did not get as much done as I hoped because I've been trying to do a new website and sometimes I find if I am good at something and I go to an easier way it doesn't go well.  That's where I am now.  Website not done.  My head sore from banging it.

I did finish my felted change purse from a knitting class that was months ago!  Check it out!

I think it turned out pretty well!

Will see you at the store at noon.  Yes we are open a little late so retreat workers can sleep in!

Fabric Swap @Quilters Depot!

I want to take a moment and say thank you to everyone who donated and/or bought at our Fabric Swap!

I cannot wait to do it again next year!

If you donated fabric you can stop in and get your sheet with your sales on it!  You have a choice to have it taken directly off anything you buy that day or we can activate a gift card for you!

We did have some left over.  We split that up between two local Project Linus Chapters and we will be donating some to the Salvation Army Sale also.

Thanks and again and can't wait til next year to do some swapping again!

Knit a Rally Scarf for the Penguins!

I did not have any pictures of any success stories.

So instead.................

ARE YOU READY FOR HOCKEY SEASON!  Why, yes I am.  Can you tell?  lol

Are you going to do the Rally Scarf?  If you have missed the details here they are!

Join with Quilters Depot and Knit a Penguin Rally Scarf!

Since I started the Pirates pride Scarf I have been asked whether I will be doing a Penguin one!  Did you doubt that I would?

You have TWO days until the season starts!

This is what you will need.  There are a couple of choices for you to do!
First how long do you want it?  I am doing 60".  To figure out what you need to do per game.  Take 60/82 (number of regular season games).  I need 3/4" per game

Find your 2 or 3 colors of yarn!  Once you have it figure out size of your needle.  Size 8 or 9 probably.  My swatch shows for the yarn that I will be using (see below) I need to do 4 rows.  You may need to do 2 for a thicker yarn or up to 6 for a thinner yarn.  This is your starting point.# of yarns.  pick two.  gold for a win. black for a loss pick three. (this is what i will be doing).  gold for a win. black for a loss.  blue for OT/shootouts

CO.  Figure out how wide you want your scarf.  I will be doing CO of 20.  I suggest between 20 and 30.
Pattern:  Pick the elements you think will make a great scarf or create your own.
1) Knit everything
2) Knit the wins.  Purl the losses.
3)Do a simple RIB.  Knit X. Purl X and repeat across.
3) Do a win/loss rib  For a Win. Knit 10 Purl 10 (adjust for how many CO you did)
4) This is what I am going to do.  For a Win.  Purl 5 Knit 10 Purl 5  For a loss.  Knit 5, Purl 10 knit 5.

These are just some of the options you have!  You can create your own style and colors!

Check out my yarn.  Picture #1.  Yes I know there are 4 colors.  I can't decide between regular black or sparkly black(update: I am going with the plain black).  The other ones below it are some other choices we have in the store.  You know I love my black and gold so I have a lot for you to choose from or raid your stash!

What's new @Quilters Depot

FROZEN IS BACK!  Yes I know I said when it sold out a couple of weeks ago that it would be November, but my distributor sent it out early! The first two on the left are cottons.  The third is a flannel and the last one on the right is a minkee!  The flannel and Minkee are SO soft!  Don't miss out on these if you did the first time!  They sold out in less than a week!

We also got a complete set of Mini Moda's in!  So many bolts I had to split into two pictures!  A couple of these are musical prints!  We got these at a GREAT Price and you get it passed on to you!  $7.99/yard!  You know that's a great price for Moda's!

We also got one really cute panel in!  Isn't he the cutest lion!

This Week w/Jenn @Quilters Depot!

Hi all!

Yes I am a little late today doing the blog.

I have been writing the newsletter for October/November.  We have some really awesome classes coming up!

If you have kids/grandkids make sure you check out the North Pole Time when I publish on the 15th!  Easy and fun classes for the kids!

I did do some knitting this week.  Bad news the Pirate's Scarf is not done.  Good news I only have about 5 more games (20 rows) to finish.  My goal is tonight while I am watching Once Upon a Time!

Are you ready for Hockey Season?  Are you doing my scarf for that!  I have my yarn all rolled and am ready to go!

One thing I did finish this week was a project on the Avente and Pro Stitcher!  The owner of the quilt, Nancy hasn't even seen it yet!  The bears that are outlined are from the Pro Stitcher. There are also stars quilted through out even though you can not see them since they were done in white on the blue.  These are the fun quilts to long arm even if they take awhile!

Register for these classes now!

You know you want to take these two classes.  Make a day of it! Bring your lunch or ask Jenn to order in.   Peggy G always comes up with some easy and fun classes!  Just because it may seem like a complicated quilt does not make it so!

Register by Friday night at 6pm for either or both of these classes.

Playtime—Ring Around the Rosie Quilt:  Peggy has fallen in love with the book “Quilters Playtime” by Dianne S. Hire.  She says it’s the only quilt book that she has read from cover to cover.  The book is all about having fun with quilting, throwing out all the rules, and freeing the inner you to create as you wish.  The sky is the limit!!!  (Note: All the quilt ideas are named after games...how appropriate!!!)  This class is the third, and last, in the series of three that we have offered.  “Ring around the Rosey” This quilt is the one featured on the front of the book. Because of copyright laws, the book is required for class! If you have missed the other DO NOT miss this one!  This is a TWO week class!  When: Saturdays, October 4th and 18th @9am to noon.  Cost:  $25 +supplies and book.  Teacher: Peggy Gibson

Hot Hexagon Centerpiece: If you  have not heard Hexagons are all the rage right now!  Make this reversible centerpiece and /or placemat to learn the technique of making hexagons using pre-cut paper inserts.  Note:  We have the pre-cut fabric hexagons at the Depot to make this project even easier!  This is an all hand piecing class (no sewing machines required!), but it’s fun and easy!  Peggy wouldn’t have it any other way! This is a TWO week class! When: Saturdays, October 4th and 18th @noon to 3pm.  Cost:  $25 +supplies.  Teacher: Peggy Gibson.
