Friday, 7/24 5 to 8pm Modern Quilting Meets Traditional Quilting
Modern quilting designs enhance quilts in a different way than traditional designs. Learn to draw traditional fills and then change them up with a variety of techniques to create exciting new looks. What’s old is new again, with a twist. Skills Featured: • Identifying modern designs • Incorporating modern designs in quilts • Ideas for borders and sashing • Using wave rulers for special effects • Tiled edge-to-edge designs
Saturday, 7/25 9am to noon TNT: Threads, Needles, Tension
Overcome the fear of setting tension or trying new threads. You do not have to be a techie to use the step-by-step functions, designed by quilters just like you. Whether you’re considering a quilting business or simply want to finish your own quilts, come see what elegant and precise quilting is possible with HQ Pro-Stitcher. Skills Featured: • Overview of basic features and menu • Working with built-in designs • Resizing and repeating a design to fit a specific area • Importing, saving and customizing designs • Cropping and nesting edge-to-edge designs
Event 1 Educator : Elaine Gilmore
Elaine Gilmore shares more than a decade of longarm quilting knowledge with new and seasoned quilters daily, teaching basic to advanced quilting professionally throughout the US and Canada, as well as internationally. An expert in computerized quilting, Elaine especially enjoys helping HQ Pro-Stitcher® owners advance their skills. She quilts with an HQ18 Avanté® equipped with HQ Pro-Stitcher and has finished hundreds of quilts. By thinking outside the box, she considers it a good day when mastering a new technique to share. In addition to her quilting experience, Elaine is a former Handi Quilter retailer and technician. She sold Handi Quilter machines and products in her own machine quilting shop, installing and training the new owners personally. Elaine has also published two books specific to custom quilting. Married with 3 grown children and 12 grandchildren, Elaine loves to knit, travel, laugh, and spend time with her family.
